The US government has paid at least ?100m to the UK spy agency?GCHQ?over the last three years to secure access to and influence over Britain?s intelligence gathering programmes.

But it will raise fears about the hold Washington has over the UK?s biggest and most important intelligence agency, and whether Britain?s dependency on the?NSA?has become too great.

Microsoft Unveils Enforcement United, Wants You To Be Big Brother For Them

Xbox Live, like every other online community, has long struggled with troublemakers and rabble-rousers, otherwise known as trolls. Microsoft maintains their various codes of conduct with due diligence, but they need help. Specifically, your help.

MS has just unveiled a new beta program called Enforcement United, which asks everyday users to be help keep tabs on fellow members. Basically, it allows ever members to snitch on others, whom they believe to be in violation of the rules.

Now, anyone who has frequented popular message boards may instantly be reminded of that one moderator who allows power to get to his or her head. But MS has thought of that as well; violators are fed to some kind of algorithm that makes the final call, by also considering in a number of other factors. Ultimately:

?We have built in a series of carefully designed controls so no individual participant can wield unchecked power over another. The system will also continually calibrate itself to understand how reliable the data is and the sources it comes from.?

At this early point, offensive gamertags are the only real things that a deputized XBLA member will be able to report on, but responsibilities will expand over time. And what does one get for helping the community?

Since it's part of the recently introduced Xbox Community Ambassadors, being Big Brother on the behalf of Microsoft can score you freebies like Avatar accessories. One has to wonder if one said freebie will be a badge, to let everyone know that you're the law.

I just love finding new brands online that no one else has even heard of, the internet is such an amazing thing!

I?m really impressed, it?s a timeless piece that can be worn again and again. I couldn?t help but buy the Flowers Blush Hard Pink Clutch, ?26, from Darling to match, it?s so unique.

I want the dress to stay the statement piece so I?ve found a beautiful taupe curl feather headband from Debenhams which will match the bag perfectly. I?ve decided to pair the dress with my comfortable nude, peep-toe heels from New Look.

There?s a wide range of clothing and accessories for both men and women ? all fairly reasonably priced for designer labels ? and they often have sales too! The bride better watch out, I might be using the aisle as my own personal catwalk!

Iran President-Elect Says Israel Is 'Wound to Be Cleansed'

Iran's president-elect Hassan Rouhani has called Israel a "wound" that must be ?removed.?

"The Zionist regime is a wound inflicted for years on the body of the Muslim world that must be cleansed," Rouhani told reporters attending annual Quds Day rallies in remarks reported by Iranian and international media.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu immediately criticised the Iranian President-elect's comments, saying they revealed the Iran government's real thinking.

"The true face of Rowhani has been revealed earlier than expected," Netanyahu said in a statement.

"Even if the Iranians work to deny these comments, this is what the man thinks and reflects the regime's plans," he said, as cited by Sky News.

Rouhani will formally assume the presidency of Iran this weekend after winning elections held in June.

Topless sunbathers flock to London's parks as temperatures soar

The spokesman added that it would be a situation where the officer would be required to exercise some common sense.

In New York City recently a local law was passed allowing women to sunbathe topless in any public space where a man was permitted to strip off his shirt.

There are currently no plans for a similar law in this country.

On Thursday UK temperatures were hotter than Barcelona, Cape Town, Mumbai and Venice, prompting bookies to offer odds that August would be a record breaker.

Ladbrokes offered 8/1 that August?s hottest temperature would surpass the hottest August on record, which was in 2003.

A decade ago the mercury reached 101.3F (38.5C).

Jessica Bridge, of Ladbrokes, said: ?The second heat wave of the summer is in full swing and the odds suggest we?re in for another scorcher.

?The faster the temperatures rise the quicker the odds will drop when it comes to breaking weather records.?

But weather forecasters have warned people to enjoy the heat wave now as it is not set to last.

Friday is set to be cooler, with a maximum temperature of 82.4F (28C) as showery rain arrives from the West.

A spokesman said: ?Locally we could get heavier and thundery showers across the West spreading east. And there is a risk of heavier rain in more eastern parts. It will begin to feel fresher.

?For the next five or six days we should see temperatures in the low to mid-20s.?

The Met Office has also offered some relief for hay fever sufferers who have had a difficult summer so far.

According to experts pollen counts are set to drop significantly over the weekend and into next week.

Robin Thicke?s Blurred Lines is projected to debut at number one on the Billboard album chart next week with an estimated tally of 130,000 copies. That number has been construed as disappointing by some given the omnipresence of ?Blurred Lines? on the radio and its seven-week stint on top of the Hot 100. But it?s still enough to snag the blue-eyed soul singer his first chart-topping album and, potentially, his biggest first-week sales bow.

At present that honor belongs to Something Else, which debuted at number three with 135,000+ copies sold in 2008. Given the sex symbol?s non-stop promo campaign and appeal to older audiences (who mostly go shopping later in the week because they are, you know, working), he should be able to top that.
